The most important thing I learned from Aspire was to hold on to my dreams. – Meagan, 17

My involvement with Light of Chance started with it's annual Teen Summit event held each summer four years ago.  As a volunteer and workshop facilitator it's been a wonderful experience witnessing this organization grow to meet the needs of communities in Kentucky.  Youth across Madisonville and Bowling Green are benefiting from positive, holistic programming geared towards their needs and it's fun, attractive and hip.  It's been an inspiration working alongside Eric and the LOC staff and I look forward to continuing my involvement with LOC for many years to come.  – Lauren Cunningham, Assistant Hall Director, Western Kentucky University

Light of Chance has truly been a blessing to me. The financial workshops have been very helpful for me. In less than a year I've been able to gain control of my finances through methods I Learned from the workshops. I feel that I will be able to achieve the American dream of owning my own home in the near future. Something I didn't think was possible two years ago. Thanks Light of Chance for give people five years of Hope. -Sid Carney

The most important thing I learned from Aspire was that being yourself is the best person you can be and how to be successful in life.  – Shannon, 17

You give back. Not many do that from our area. When I grow up, I wanna change the community in the best way I can. Nobody can do what you do. Your actions can’t be repeated. – Ishmal Baker

None of my friends had the kind experience during their internship like I had with my mine. It was not necessarily the assignments or projects I engaged in but the learning experience with Eric. Most founders or business owners give their interns busy work and do not really teach or equip them with the tools they need to have that strong foundation and confidence that lets the Intern fill that they can actually do the job or go in to another organization and say, " hey, I was well prepared for this during my internship" Well I can! Mainly because I felt like my internship was a fulltime job but also because I had an excellent mentor who truly cared about my success as a student and an individual (that) would be going out into the real world soon! It could be due to our economic times but a lot of people live in a world of scarcity they do not want to tell you how they “made it” or true keys to success. They also may not want to help you network or get to a position like theirs because they are fearful that you may take their position. But Eric was the exact opposite. He showed me the in’s and out’s of how to run an organization and even put me in a position to where I can get to the level where I could do something on my own! For that I am very grateful and I had such an amazing experience. It was a lot of hard work at times but I learned so much and feel so equipped that I would not trade my experience for the “easy A” Internship! Although I got an A, I worked hard for it! – Uquay Shemwell, Former Light of Chance Intern

Logan and Light of Chance, Inc. on five years of service to the community. Light of Chance has made a tremendous impact in a very short period of time. It has been both my pleasure and honor to volunteer with the Light of Chance organization's Aspire weekend since 2007. I am not only proud that Eric Logan began this organization to better the communities in and around Madisonville, KY, but also that he has continued to lead by example by Aspiring to Inspire everyone he comes into contact with. I have enjoyed interacting with the children in the community and seeing the same faces return year after year along with some new faces. Light of Chance gives its participants an opportunity to explore the many possibilities that life has to offer with its diverse workshops. I like how the children get an opportunity to try their hand at theater, music production and recording, and dance along with gaining a better understanding of relationships and what it takes to be successful. The workshop that I co-lead was about keys to success, since I was born in Madisonville KY, I felt that it was necessary to come back and show proof that it does not matter where your beginnings are, you can become whatever you wish to become. Currently, I am a third year psychology doctoral student and Adjunct Instructor at Tennessee State University and will return in any capacity that the Light of Chance organization needs me. I wish to say Happy Anniversary and Congratulations to the Light of Chance organization on its 5 years of success; I wish you many more years to come. - Ariane Narain, M.S., Instructor, Tennessee State University

Light of Chance is a great organization that reaches out to local communities! In my two separate instances of being involved with Light of Chance, it continues excite me what great minds that thrive from the Light of Chance organization. Mr. Logan a great friend, who is also my fraternity brother, is a great mentor for the youth who participate. Mr. Logan's dream, which turned a reality, brings a phenomenal organization that exceeds all expectations! There needs to be more caring individuals like Mr. Logan in our communities that allows youth to find outlets where they can be successful. – Vashon Broadnax, Coordinator of Career and Volunteer Services, Philander Smith College

I really enjoyed taking pictures for Light of Chance. I met so many people during each class/lessons and became great friends with them. It was educational and fun!! I liked the Talent Show at the end of the day. It presented so many of the things we had done earlier that day, and the talents from the people not from Kentucky. I love it!! It was a great experience & I can't wait to participate in it next year. - Rebekah Ragland, Photographer, 19

My experience with Light of Chance was a wonderful and fulfilling one. Usually kids gather for a party, sporting event, or to go to the movies but hardly ever an event like this.  An educational experience where they learn and have fun is rare, but extremely beneficial. It was good to see the youth come together for an event that would be beneficial to their future.  I attended the event along with a few fraternity brothers of mine, and we assisted with a few of the workshops.  We probably learned more from the kids and interaction with them, than we were able to teach them. Through the testimonies of guest speakers, the kids (and myself) were able to get success stories told first hand.  In the speakers’ testimonies, they told of how obstacles and hurdles were faced, but they didn’t allow anything keep them from their ultimate achievements.  With the desire and motivation to succeed, they were able to get through.  Their hard work paid off and that’s what it takes to get through.  I don’t remember the exact name but the guy who worked on cars from Madisonville, he stands out.  He now takes big skiing trips and goes on golf outings (all a part of his job). I’m proud to have attended Light of Chance, and I will definitely attend whenever I am able to.  Great Event for the Kids and Adults!  - Gilbert Rogers, Graduate Assistant, Department of Athletics University of Southern Mississippi

Working with Light of Chance was a great experience. I got the opportunity to learn new skills, do some great networking, and it added versatility to my resume. – Brandon Smith, Sales Manager

I attended a couple of events held by Light of Chance for the first time this year.  I was pleasantly surprised. The talent show featured a top-notch comedian that entertained the audience, and he was not degrading or vulgar.  The contestants were all talented and they seemed to enjoy the friendly competition.  I was so sorry that I did not bring my children.  The dust bowl was truly a blessing for a lot of parents that couldn't afford the back-to-school hair cuts or school supplies.  I was also pleased to see the weekend ended on a spiritual note.  Thank you for giving back to the community.  Even though you think people may not have appreciated all that you have done these last 5 years, we actually do.  Light of Chance offers a positive release for our community.   Terri Hurst, Health Program Assistant, Audubon Area Head Start
