Qualifications:

Applicant must exhibit interest in art and community outreach programs. In addition, must be willing to undergo a criminal history background check. The applicant must be self-motivated and accountable. He or she will have proven initiative and will have utilized innovative approaches. The ideal candidate will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least (1) year experience working with youth in mentoring and/or teaching. A college degree preferred.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated to the formation and philosophy of the development of youth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries while providing supportive services
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value systems and behavior norms.
  • Experience in working with culturally diverse communities and families, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
  • Demonstrate good writing and organizational skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, video production applications, and social networking.
  • A valid state driver's license, a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

DIGITAL MEDIA SPECIALIST

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Research and develop methods for effective layouts for publications
  • Assist with preparing promotional pieces for special events and programs
  • Prepare spreads for the newsletter publication
  • Conduct photography as needed for printed and online resources
  • Design graphics for print and online advertisements
  • Create videos for use online and as marketing tools
  • Assist with social networking

QUALIFICATIONS

This position is available to students currently enrolled at an institution of higher education and seeking college credit. This student must be self-motivated and accountable.  He or she will have proven initiative and will have utilized innovative approaches to Digital Media.  The ideal candidate will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Good oral communications skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Ability to work with a team

  • Basic knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Adobe CS5 design and video production applications (Adobe CS3 or CS4 is acceptable)

YOUTH WELLNESS PROGRAM COORDINATOR

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Work directly with Light of Chance wellness program (Get Set Go)
  • Assist with facilitating and implementing physical activity.
  • Assist with nutrition management.
  • Assist with physical activity curriculum.
  • Perform measurement and evaluation of the program participants.
  • Gain experience with exercise testing and prescription.
  • Gain wellness coaching experience by working directly with program participants’ and their family while providing feedback and tips on leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Collect data for research.
  • Interact with underserved and vulnerable youth populations as a mentor for the wellness program.
  • Assisting with structure of wellness program.

Secondary responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Work directly with Executive Director.
  • Assist with fundraising.
  • Attend Coalition meetings.
  • Help with Board Recruitment.
  • Assist with Public Relations and Marketing.
  • Recruitment of volunteers for special events.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations.

QUALIFICATIONS
Interns should exhibit interest in wellness and community outreach programs. The Intern is a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent analytical thinking abilities and excellent communication skills. The internship is a great chance to receive hands on and real world experiences with the opportunity to affect many lives.

MARKETING & EVENT COORDINATOR

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Actively participate in the execution and management of Light of Chance’s fundraising programs including the ability to multi-task, handling logistics and follow through on multiple events/programs at the same time.
  • Assist in the development of a marketing/advertising/media strategy.
  • Manage event details and logistics.
  • Responsible for the development and fulfillment of the events and marketing budgets.
  • Assist with develop and implement marketing plans and materials.
  • Broaden social networking to benefit the organization.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Develop, implement and manage event performance measurements.
  • Prepare weekly reports for Executive Director.
  • Develop, plan and participate in marketing and media networking events on behalf of Light of Chance.
  • Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers.
  • Work directly with volunteers and staff in event execution.
  • Plan and execute strategies to raise capital on an ongoing basis.
  • Secure sponsorships for organizational special events.
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.
  • Write, submit and follow-up to ensure placement on press releases and stories.
  • Responsible for silent auction, prize and in-kind donation solicitations for each event.

QUALIFICATIONS

DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Work directly with Executive Director.
  • Help coordinate and implement events, workshops, and programs.
  • Assist with coordinating and implementing public relations program to increase awareness of Light of Chance purpose and mission.
  • Assist with organization’s donor relations.
  • Assist with creating and implementing marketing, fundraising, strategic plans.
  • Recruitment of volunteers.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets.
  • Assist with fundraising including sponsorships, donations, and identifying grant resources.
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new Board members.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations.
  • Assist with the collection data for research.
  • Interact with underserved and vulnerable youth populations.
  • Assisting with structure of organization.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Develop, write, and distribute approved press releases.
  • Broaden social networking to benefit the organization.
  • Assist with media relations, including pitching, researching and scheduling interviews.
  • Organization of photo opportunities and events.
  • Assist with building and maintaining relationships with media.
  • Assist with building and maintaining press kits.
  • Assist with planning and executing special events.
  • Develop and maintain content for social media sites and main website (lightofchance.org).
  • Assist with monitoring the impact of marketing and fundraising plans.
  • Assist in the creation and distribution of donor communications.
  • Assist with direct mail and marketing efforts for Light of Chance, Inc.
  • All other duties as assigned.
