Event and Marketing Coordinator Intenship

Positions available in Bowling Green and Madisonville, KY

As a Marketing and Event Coordinator, you will manage the planning and implementation of special events and public relations activities for the Organization. You will focus on promoting and expanding the reach and impact of the Organization. You will assist the E. D. in planning the overall communications strategy, develop branding and messaging then promote the Organization and its programs across various media outlets. You will report directly to, and
work closely with, the Founder and Executive Director as well as senior management to achieve the Organization's targeted strategic communications goals.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Actively participate in the execution and management of Light of Chance’s fundraising programs including the ability to multi-task, handling logistics and follow through on multiple events/programs at the same time.
  • Assist in the development of a marketing/advertising/media strategy.
  • Manage event details and logistics.
  • Responsible for the development and fulfillment of the events and marketing budgets.
  • Develop, implement and manage event performance measurements.
  • Prepare weekly reports for Executive Director.
  • Develop, plan and participate in marketing and media networking events on behalf of Light of Chance.
  • Coordinate the recruitment of volunteers.
  • Work directly with volunteers and staff in event execution.
  • Plan and execute strategies to raise capital on an ongoing basis.
  • Secure sponsorships for organizational special events.
  • Coordinate event logistics, publicity, including public relations, advertising and collateral material design, production and distribution.
  • Write, submit and follow-up to ensure placement on press releases and stories.
  • Responsible for silent auction, prize and in-kind donation solicitations for each event.
  • Assist with develop and implement marketing plans and materials.
  • Broaden social networking to benefit the organization.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is available to students currently enrolled at an institution of higher education and seeking college credit. This student must be self-motivated and accountable.  He or she will have proven initiative and will have utilized innovative approaches to Marketing and fundraising.  The ideal candidate will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines. 

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Demonstrated sales and business development experience.
  • Experienced team builder.
  • Solid communications skills, oral and written.
  • Commitment to the goals and values of the Organization.
  • Computer and internet literacy.
  • Strong Internet/online marketing skills; Social Media experience is a plus.
  • Strategic and analytical skills.
  • A genuine interest in and knowledge of youth services.
  • A valid state driver's license, a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Highly organized.

CHARACTERISTICS AND NECESSARY SKILLS:
Moderate knowledge of computers is required (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc). Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills, team builder, and meet deadlines.

Wellness Program Internship/Practicum

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work directly with Light of Chance wellness program (Get Set Go)
  • Assist with facilitating and implementing physical activity.
  • Assist with nutrition management.
  • Assist with physical activity curriculum.
  • Perform measurement and evaluation of the program participants.
  • Gain experience with exercise testing and prescription.
  • Gain wellness coaching experience by working directly with program participants’ and their family while providing feedback and tips on leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Collect data for research.
  • Interact with underserved and vulnerable youth populations as a mentor for the wellness program.
  • Assisting with structure of wellness program.

Secondary responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Work directly with Executive Director.
  • Assist with fundraising.
  • Attend Coalition meetings.
  • Help with Board Recruitment.
  • Assist with public relations and marketing.
  • Recruitment of volunteers for special events.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations. 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Interns should exhibit interest in wellness and community outreach programs. The Intern is a detail-oriented self-starter with excellent analytical thinking abilities. The internship is a great chance to receive hands on and real world experiences with the opportunity to affect many lives. Position will remain open until filled.

  • Assist with facilitating and implementing physical activity.

  • Interact with underrepresented and vulnerable youth populations as a mentor for the wellness program.
  • Assisting with structure of wellness program or arts program.
