Breathe provides free fall, spring, and summer arts sessions for grades 5-12 in Madisonville, Kentucky. Breathe Youth Arts Program is a community-based, youth development program of Light of Chance that is geared toward fostering artistic expression, leadership and social skills through visual arts, music, dance and creative writing.
While no artistic talent is necessary, Breathe successfully cultivates creativity for our students, while providing a positive environment and outlet for youth to express themselves, engage in important issues, and experience personal and social transformation through the arts. The program provides a constructive, creative outlet which encourages cooperation and teamwork. It teaches artistic and social skills while providing a setting where youth are valued and celebrated.

YOGA [MONDAYS ONLY]
Combines the skills of counseling, meditation, yoga, and thai yoga massage to fit individual needs. Lead by Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Yoga instructor Bonnie Young-Turley of Synergy Counseling & Wellness Center, Yoga focuses on the healing and balance of physical and mental health through talk therapy, asanas (postures), and opening of the body. Yoga helps with ADD/ADHD, Co-occurring Disorders, Trauma Recovery/PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, depression, anxiety, anger management, crisis intervention, grief counseling, and more.
Focuses on art such as screen printing, painting, murals, photography, and graphic design; an examination of visual art from various cultures. It includes a study of materials, techniques, principals, subjects, styles, issues, functions, and meanings related to visual art.
Focuses the process of composing and producing different music. It addresses the principles of recording sound and explains sound characteristics, basic acoustics and proper audio recording techniques for field and studio recording.
Students learn various forms of dance including Hip-Hop and Modern; we incorporate the contributions each style has made to the performing arts and the development of our culture.
Students become familiar with the processes and principles necessary for creative writing, with a focus on spoken word poetry, monologues, and drama.
